(WTAQ-WLUK) — The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting aerial enforcement this weekend in Northeast Wisconsin.
Starting Friday, weather permitting, the State Patrol’s Air Support Unit will keep an eye out for traffic violations from the air over WIS 57 in Door County.
The aerial enforcement schedule is as follows:
Thursday, September 10
- I-94 – Eau Claire County
Friday, September 11
- WIS 57 – Door County
- US 53 – Washburn County
Saturday, September 12
- I-39/90/94 – Columbia County
- US 10 – Waupaca County
Sunday, September 13
- WIS 57 – Door County
Aerial enforcement is one way to enhance public safety efforts. From the air it’s much easier to spot drivers who are speeding or driving aggressively. When a pilot observes a violation, they communicate with ground-based units to initiate a traffic stop.
Many aerial enforcement missions are announced publicly to reinforce State Patrol’s goal to improve safety through voluntary compliance with traffic laws, not simply to stop or cite drivers.
