GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Green Bay Metro Fire Department officially welcomed a new leader Thursday, swearing in Ray Fuiten as fire chief.
Fuiten is a 20-year veteran of Green Bay’s firefighter team. His executive-level experience includes serving as battalion chief, assistant chief of operations and interim co-chief of the department.
The Green Bay Metro Fire Department said it “looks forward to Chief Fuiten’s leadership and experience in the years to come.”
In remarks during the ceremony, Fuiten outlined priorities he wants to pursue for the department, including new facilities.
“I have a goal of bringing a Training Center to the premium Metro fire department. We currently don’t have one that we can call ours,” Fuiten said.
He also pointed to the need for upgrades to the department’s maintenance space.
“I have a goal of our fire department shop is old, outdated and small. I would love to have a state-of-the-art fire department shop for our mechanics to work on our rigs,” Fuiten said.
