OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Secretary of Defense is in Northeast Wisconsin Monday as part of his nationwide “Arsenal of Freedom” tour.
During the visit, Secretary Pete Hegseth saw firsthand how Oshkosh Corporation builds advanced tactical vehicles, including the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) and Remotely Operated Ground Unit for Expeditionary Fires (ROGUE-Fires).
Hegseth also delivered remarks to Oshkosh Corporation.
Since receiving the original JLTV contract in 2015, Oshkosh Defense has manufactured more than 25,000 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles for the U.S. Armed Forces and allied partners worldwide.
“Our production teams understand the mission behind what they build every day,” said Steve Nordlund, Executive Vice President, Oshkosh Corporation and President, Oshkosh Transport Segment. “The skilled men and women across Oshkosh Defense have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to turn requirements into proven capability built to perform in the world’s most demanding environments. We have the people, infrastructure and production expertise in place today to move quickly and scale when our customers need us.”
Ahead of his arrival, people could be seen on the streets in Oshkosh, holding up signs, protesting Hegseth’s visit.

Pete Hegseth and Wisconsin Republicans like Tom Tiffany, Derrick Van Orden, and Bryan Steil are so desperate to do damage control for jacking up the cost of living with their wildly unpopular tariffs and endless war-of-choice in Iran that they have now stooped to parading around Hegseth to sell them on a failed economic agenda. Wisconsinites see through Republicans’ slimy sales pitch and are tired of footing the bill for foreign wars and tariffs that have crushed our businesses, farmers, and manufacturers.
Earlier in the day, Hegseth was at Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, Nebraska.
