GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Renovations are complete and a facility serving those with disabilities, and their families, is open again.
In a ceremony, Aspiro was dedicated Tuesday morning in Green Bay.
After completing a $21 million project, Aspiro President Ryan Ruzziconi says the Dousman Street facility is ready to go.
“I think it’s exceeded our vision. You never know what you’re going to get when you go through a whole building renovation,” said Ryan Ruzziconi, Aspiro President.
Dozens of people toured the site.
“Aspiro serves over 1,600 clients. We offer 11 programs in 10 different counties. Inside here we have everything from recreational programs, to day services, to job skills training, to community work programs. The whole range,” said Ruzziconi.
“Now, for years to come, anybody with a disability that wants to come to Aspiro is welcome,” said Rick Chernick, Capital Campaign Chair.
Rick Chernick chaired the capital campaign to help raise the money. His brother is also an Aspiro client.
“It gets them the opportunity to be themselves. Like I said earlier, be safe in an environment where you can have fun, and learn. And this is just beautiful. It’s a wonderful, wonderful thing,” said Chernick.
Giving people the chance to help build a future that Ryan Ruzziconi says is inclusive for all.
“Individuals with disabilities want the same things that you and I want. They want to be able to socialize, to be involved in the community, to get jobs in the community. And that’s what Aspiro offers them, and that’s what a facility like this does,” he said.
Aspiro is scheduled to be open for clients and their families Wednesday morning.
