GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – More than a month after heavy rains damaged a Green Bay fire station, it remains closed with no set schedule for repairs to be completed.
During the June 24 storms, Fire Station 3, 885 Shawano Ave., filled with floodwater and portions of the first floor were also damaged. As a precaution, electrical service was disconnected and the station’s personnel and apparatus were assigned to other stations.
Green Bay Metro Fire Dept. public information officer Lt. Shauna Walesh on Tuesday said the station is still closed.
Before fire crews can safely return to the space, the electrical panel work, boiler maintenance, asbestos and lead testing and abatement, as well as overall cleanup, must be completed. The total cost of these repairs has yet to be determined, as we are awaiting updates from the insurance company,” Walesh said
No date for returning it to service has been set, she said.
