(WTAQ-WLUK) — Voting has begun to select the 2026 Wisconsin Public Service ‘ambassadog.’
The ‘ambassadog’ campaign asks Wisconsin residents to submit photos of their dog digging up dirt. The winning dog not only gets the title of ‘ambassadog,’ it also becomes the face of WPS’s call 811 campaign.
10 Northeast and North-central Wisconsin dogs were selected as the finalists for the role. They are:
- Annie
- Carl from Green Bay
- Doug from Wausau
- Leo from Maribel
- Luna from Merrill
- Maisie from Rhinelander
- Mitzy from Wausau
- Nova from Pulaski
- Parker from Stevens Point
- Ruby from Tomahawk
Northeast Wisconsin dogs are bolded.
The area has yet to have a winner. Last year, WPS selected Pearl from Schofield as the 2025 ‘ambassadog.’ In its inaugural year, Arlo from Tomahawk was the first ‘ambassadog.’
WPS began the program in 2024.
The winning dog will be seen on billboards starting August 11. That day being chosen because 8/11 reads like the number to call before digging: 811.
