HOWARD, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A new health facility is opening just west of Green Bay.
Hospital Sisters Health System and Lifepoint Rehabilitation held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday for a new rehabilitation hospital.
The facility is located on Taylor Street, just east of the Meijer store.
HSHS says the 40-bed facility will expand access to specialized rehabilitation care for patients from all over Northeast Wisconsin.
“This setting is really an opportunity for patients to maximize their outcomes in a short amount of time because the amount of dedicated therapies that they receive. So it’s an opportunity to avoid a longer stay at a nursing home,” said HSHS Rehabilitation Hospital CEO Megan Pfarr. “It will help with our hospitals throughput, you know, meaning they can get their patients out in a more timely manner.”
The facility doubles the capacity of the current inpatient rehabilitation unit at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. It will also include what HSHS says is the area’s first dedicated traumatic brain injury unit.
