GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Green Bay Packers program that gives military families the Lambeau Field spotlight is marking its 20th season.
Operation Fan Mail hosts a military family at each home game and recognizes them on the field during pregame activities.
Since its inception in 2007, a total of 226 families have been saluted since 2007.
“We’re proud to celebrate 20 years of Operation Fan Mail, a program that reflects our deep gratitude for the men and women who have served our country and the families who have supported them,” said Packers President and CEO Ed Policy. “Together with Network Health, we’re honored to recognize these deserving individuals and share their stories with Packers fans on gamedays.”
To choose families, the Packers and Network Health are asking interested families, or friends of eligible families, to submit an essay, 500 words or less, on why a particular fan should be saluted this season.
Essays can be sent to Operation Fan Mail, P.O. Box 10628, Green Bay, WI, 54307-0628 or online. Families intended for recognition are those that have a member of their family serving on active duty, or a member of their family who is a veteran. The family member can be a spouse, mother, father, son, daughter or sibling.
In addition to being recognized on the video boards prior to the game, selected families will receive four tickets to the game courtesy of Network Health.
