GREENLEAF, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Northeast Wisconsin congressman wants to make sure you know if the butter you’re buying was made in a lab.
U.S. Rep. Tony Wied’s new bill is called the Recognizing Engineered Alternatives as Lab-Created, or REAL Butter Act.
It would require lab-produced butter to be labeled on grocery shelves.
It comes after Savor, a company Bill Gates funds, announced a method for making butter from carbon dioxide instead of milk.
