ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A fan suffered an injury during an on-field promotion at Friday night’s Green Bay Blizzard football game and was taken off the field on a stretcher.
More than a dozen medical personnel surrounded the man as he laid on the logo at the middle of the field.
Emergency vehicles and sirens could be seen and heard in the area of the Resch Center, where the game was being played. An arena official said the man was conscious and moving his extremities. He was transported to an emergency room.
During Blizzard games, fans are invited onto the field to participate in promotional activities during timeouts. The man’s injury occurred during a game involving a giant blow-up beach ball, during which two teams made up of four players battle against each other to push the ball into their designated end zone.
Exactly one minute was left in the game. The San Antonio Gunslingers ended the matchup by taking a knee to run out the clock. Green Bay won 62-28.
A spokesperson for the Blizzard said the man was taken to the hospital as a precaution and is expected to be okay. The spokesperson thanked the fans in attendance for being quiet and respectful while the man received medical care.
