TOWN OF RANTOUL, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The North Pole Christmas Village, in Calumet County, has celebrated its final holiday season.
Owner Troy Campbell made the announcement on Facebook, saying because of health concerns, he is retiring. Campbell had hoped to hold one last Christmas season on his property, but said it was no longer possible.
According to Campbell, “My wife, she’s a big supporter, and her health is failing. So, it’s time to take care of my family. It just, it just, that’s all it is.”
Campbell started the family-friendly Christmas display at his home in Kaukauna 20 years ago.
“I tell my grandchildren, you know, when I started the North Pole, I dressed as Santa, I had a doll, and I waved at people. That was the beginning of the North Pole. Now I have enough for my own zip code,” said Campbell.
Raising two special needs children, Campbell created the North Pole to help spread joy to everyone around the holidays, adding, “Disabled children, I found that when they came here, they felt like they were one of the children.”
When the display grew too big for his yard, he relocated it to an industrial park in Kaukauna. Seven years ago he opened The North Pole Christmas Village on his property in the Town of Rantoul.
Each year, thousands of people from across the country and around the world visited The North Pole for free. In 2025 Campbell started charging a small entry fee and people still filled the attraction.
Full of animatronic figures and other homemade Christmas displays and decorations, Campbell is now looking to sell all of the North Pole items. He plans to hold a sale later this month for anyone interested in buying his display pieces.
Details of the sale are expected to be published on The North Pole Christmas Village’s Facebook page this week.
He said, “I just hope we get enough people that they can take it all. And that way, they all have a good home. My goal is to have everything to a good home. And again, hey, I mean, I’ve done for 20 years now, it’s your turn to do it for 20 years.”
In addition to the North Pole pieces, Campbell is also selling him home that sits on the same property as the Christmas village.
The home will be listed with Keith Krepline soon.
