OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Law enforcement recovered a body from the Fox River Wednesday.
Just after 10 a.m., a witness reported seeing an individual jump from the Main Street Bridge in Oshkosh. First responders arrived on scene and spent hours searching the area.
The Oshkosh Police Department’s drone team, the dive rescue teams from the Oshkosh Fire Department and Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources assisted in the search efforts. Using its specialized sonar equipment, the DNR eventually located the individual’s body.
No foul play is suspected, police said.
OPD did not release any information about the person who died. However, in their initial news release, police said the person who was reportedly seen jumping from the bridge was a white male with long hair, wearing what appeared to be blue jeans and a dark-colored sweatshirt.
