(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) GREEN BAY – The Green Bay softball team won the first two games of their series against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on Friday, winning game one 6-5, before winning game two, 9-7.
GAME 1 | Green Bay 6, Oakland 5
Trailing 2-0, the Phoenix first put runs on the board in the first inning, scoring four runs highlighted by a two-RBI single from Sara Ebner.
The Golden Grizzlies failed to push any runs across before the Phoenix offense got back to its scoring ways the next inning. Jenna Redders came across to score the lone run of the inning thanks to a Gracie Anderson sac fly, which brought the Phoenix lead to 5-2.
Oakland narrowed Green Bay’s lead to 5-3 before the Phoenix stretched the advantage to 6-3 in the fourth inning. The Phoenix scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Emma Krueger. Oakland put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Green Bay still held on for the 6-5 win.
Ava Schill (6-5) started in the circle and picked up the win for Green Bay. The right-hander went four innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on six hits, allowing one walk and striking out one. Paeton Kringel was key in relief for GB, throwing the last three innings, allowing just two runs and shutting down a Golden Grizzlies threat late.
In the batter’s box, the Phoenix was paced by Ebner, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Krueger put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. Paige Guse also contributed for Green Bay, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding a double.

GAME 2 | Green Bay 9, Oakland 7
Trailing 2-0 once again to start, the Phoenix first put runs on the board in the second inning thanks to an RBI single from Redders, scoring Emily Jones from third base.
The Phoenix deficit expanded to 4-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, taking over the lead in the third inning. The Green Bay offense exploded for five runs, highlighted by a three-run double off the bat of Redders, which brought the Phoenix lead to 6-4.
Green Bay kept Oakland scoreless before building their lead to 7-4 the following inning with a Sidney LaMotte sac fly.
Green Bay held the Golden Grizzlies scoreless before building on their lead in the sixth. The Phoenix scored twice, with one run coming across on LaMotte’s one-out single, bringing the Green Bay advantage to 9-4. Oakland put three runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Phoenix still held on for the 9-7 win thanks to a Schill save in the seventh.
Jasmyn Trigueros (5-9) got the win out of the bullpen for Green Bay. The right-hander went four innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out two.
Redders went 2-for-3 with a double in addition to her four RBIs to lead the Phoenix at the plate. LaMotte compiled a standout effort as well, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Jones also helped out for Green Bay, putting together three hits in three trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
