MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A nonprofit organization is partnering with the city of Menasha on a new neighborhood revitalization project.
This collaboration between the city and the Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity will allocate $100,000 for home improvements, helping residents enhance curb appeal and preserve housing.
“We anticipate that through this initial pilot, probably at least a dozen homes will be completed through that. Potentially even more, depending on the size and scope of those projects,” said John Weyenberg, president/CEO of Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity. “We hope to match that and leverage that with other resources that we have to expand our impact beyond.”
Officials are optimistic that this partnership will serve as a blueprint for other nonprofits and municipalities to work together to address housing challenges.
“I’m really hoping other communities, other mayors, decide they want to implement the same or something similar that works within their municipality. I’m really excited that Menasha gets to be the first. We have such a deep-rooted relationship with Habitat, with them being based out of Menasha. It feels very fitting that we’re here launching this partnership,” said Menasha Mayor Austin Hammond.
I welcome other communities to come on board and try similar things because the thing at the end of the day is impact and serving our communities and serving them well and that we have safe, reliable, decent housing stock within our communities.
Fox Cities Habitat helps homeowners in Outagamie, Calumet, Waupaca and northern Winnebago counties fix serious problems with their homes through its Home Repair Program.
