WEYAUWEGA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Parts of the Weyauwega, Fremont and New London areas are being evacuated because of potential flooding.
In Weyauwega, Wednesday’s notice affects the same people who were evacuated on Tuesday. Those living on Guth Road, Kurth Drive, Deer Haven Road, Ona Pines Road and County Highway F close to Gills Landing are asked to seek higher ground. Take important items with you, including wallets and purses, cellphones, medications and pets.
The fire department says the evacuation is “precautionary but serious.”
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office has posted on its Facebook page maps of the affected areas.
According to the sheriff’s office, shelters are located at:
- Washington Center Gym, 500 W Washington St., New London
- Weyauwega Community Center, 105 E Main St., Weyauwega
“If you choose to remain in place, your safety cannot be guaranteed and it is highly recommended you evacuate to ensure your safety,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
