SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The village of Suamico has issued a disaster declaration in response to flooding on Tuesday.
Emergency crews say they’ve responded to multiple incidents. In one, three people were rescued from a flooded house.
Firefighters shared photos of the rescue on Facebook.
The Suamico Fire Department says when crews arrived to the house in the 3700 block of Stream Road, they found the basement completely filled with water and the water beginning to rise to the first floor.
All three people in the house were rescued without injury.
In another incident, firefighters responded to a bus stranded in floodwater and tilted. Crews were able to help the driver get to dry ground safely. No passengers were on board.
Infrastructure has also been impacted. Riverside Drive is washed out between Rock Bottom Court and St. Patrick’s Drive. Lift Station #5 was also submerged.
Damage assessments were ongoing Tuesday afternoon.
Officials warned that repairs may take weeks.
The village said it is possible damage thresholds will meet criteria for state and federal disaster assistance.
Flooding after Monday night’s storms is also impacting other areas of Northeast Wisconsin, including Clintonville, Marion, Bellevue, De Pere, Ledgeview and Ashwaubenon, among others.
