(247NEWSSOURCE/LEARFIELD) – The Milwaukee Brewers opened their series against the Boston Red Sox with an 8-6 victory at Fenway Park.
Garrett Mitchell led the way at the plate after going two for five with two runs batted in. Mitchell broke a 5-5 tie in the eighth inning with a two-out single, and Angel Zerpa gave up a homer in the ninth before nailing down his first save.
Mitchell talked about the team’s 8-2 start.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that the team didn’t give up.
Christian Yelich who went 3-for-4 called it a great win.
Aaron Ashby got the win in relief.
Milwaukee has now won back to back games and eight of its first 10.
Willson Contreras went three for three with a solo homer and two RBIs.
Boston is on a three-game skid and has dropped eight of its first 10.
Jacob Misiorowski is scheduled to start tonight’s second game of the series. The Red Sox will counter with Garrett Crochet.
