(LEARFIELD) – Hard-throwing Jacob Misiorowski and four relievers struck out 20 Chicago White Sox batters on Opening Day, although they had plenty of offensive support.
Homers from Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick powered Milwaukee in a 14-2 victory.
Frelick said that the fans and the atmosphere was great.
Misiorowski fanned 11 Sox in five innings to earn the victory.
Misiorowski did give up a lead-off home run to Chicago’s Chase Meidroth.
What was he thinking after allowing leadoff HR?
What emotions were going through him?
Brewers manager Pat Murphy talked Misiorowski’s record-setting day of 11 strikeouts in 5 innings – the most ever by a Brewers starting pitcher.
A 3-RBI, bases-clearing double by catcher William Contreras was one of the biggest hits.
All told, Murphy said that it was a good win.
He said that they struggled early but kept pecking away.
The two teams take today off and meet Saturday at American Family Field.
The game can be heard beginning with the pre-game show at 5:35 Saturday evening on 97.5 WTAQ.
