(UW ATHLETICS) ATLANTA, GA – The Wisconsin men’s swim team wrapped up the second day of competition at the NCAA Championships, highlighted by an Honorable Mention All-American finish from senior Dominik Mark Torok.
Torok got the morning session started in the 400 IM, where the Badger covered the distance in 3:40.28 to place 16th overall and earn an Honorable Mention All-American.
Wisconsin showed depth on the day in the 200 free. Enzo Solitario, Yoav Romano and Luukas Vainio put up strong results. Solitario led the Badgers with a 22nd- place finish in 1:32.07 as Yoav Romano broke the 33-second mark for the first time in his career to set a personal best in 1:32.95.
Senior Ben Wiegand finished just shy of his personal best in the 100 breast, covering the distance in 51.55 for a 17th-place finish.
Wisconsin closed out the day in the 200 free relay, where the quartet of Wiegand, Cooper Scharff, Drew Gaerthofner and Vainio finished in 1:18.19.
Competition will resume tomorrow morning with the 100 back, 200 breast, 500 free, 50 free and 400 medley relay. Prelims begin at 9 a.m. (CT) and finals start at 5 p.m. (CT).
