(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) LITCHFIELD PARK, ARIZ – The Marquette University men’s golf team earned its first team title of the season, carding a 21-under par 843 this week at the Bell Bank “Pay It Forward” Collegiate held at Wigwam Resort. The Golden Eagles have won at least one team title every season dating back to 2020-21.
Marquette ended the final round four shots clear of second-place Iowa State (-17). MU’s 9-under 279 in Round 3 was the lowest round for a team during the tournament.
Coming off a career-low 6-under 210 just over a week ago in Georgia, Schmidtke went lower, posting an 8-under 208. The junior’s 68 in the final round pushed himself up to second on the leaderboard, two shots behind Maryland’s Emil Riegger.
Widal also landed in the Top 10 at 10th, carding a 4-under 212. Ryan Banas took 16th at 3-under par.
