(ST NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – St. Norbert College closed out its spring break trip to Florida with a 12-2 defeat to UW-Stout in a non-conference game at Chain of Lakes Stadium.
The Green Knights (10-4) never had a lead against the Blue Devils as St. Norbert wrapped up play in the Sunshine State with a 6-2 record.
Stout scored five runs in the second inning and added four more in the third to take a 9-0 lead. St. Norbert got on the board in the fourth inning from a Connor LaBar ground-rule double to score Tyler Dean. After Stout extended the lead 11-1 in the bottom of the frame, a Carson Krumrei single in the sixth scored Dean’s second run of the game. Stout went on to score one more run in the seventh to bring the game to a close.
Krumrei, LaBar, Dean, Matt Schuch, Joey Marella and Kyle Olson each had one hit in the loss.
Jason Schroeder took the loss for St. Norbert, pitching two innings with two strikeouts and allowing five runs on three hits.
St. Norbert will open Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play this Saturday at Benedictine University in a doubleheader slated for noon.
