(UW OSHKOSH COMMUNICATIONS/ST NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) – UW-Oshkosh sophomore forward Paige Seckar was named Region 9 Player of the Year and Titans junior guard Sammi Beyer was selected to the Region 9 Second Team on the 2026 D3hoops.com Women’s Basketball All-Region squads that were released Monday (March 16).
Seckar, the 2025 D3hoops.com Region 9 Co-Rookie of the Year, becomes the first Region Player of the Year in program history. Beyer garnered All-Region accolades for the first time.
Seckar was previously named the 2026 WIAC Player of the Year, while Beyer also received All-WIAC First Team honors this season.
Seckar and Beyer have helped lead the Titans back to the NCAA Division III Final Four for the second straight season. Oshkosh (28-3) plays first-time opponent Denison University (Ohio) (28-2) during the national semifinals Thursday (March 19) in Salem, Va.
Seckar was joined on the five-member D3hoops.com All-Region 9 First Team by sophomore forward Maya Metcalf from Concordia College (Minn.), senior guard Caydee Kirkham from Coe College (Iowa), junior guard Bria Medina from Knox College (Ill.) and senior guard Maija Rice from UW-Stevens Point.
Joining Beyer on the five-member All-Region 9 Second Team were junior forward Emily Erickson from Bethel University (Minn.), junior guard Maddy Grove from University of Minnesota Morris, junior guard Laney Havlovitz from Ripon College and senior guard Ella Mackiewicz from UW-Platteville.
Seckar paces the Titans with 13.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.4 blocks per game this season. Seckar, who averages 2.2 assists per contest, also leads the WIAC in free throw attempts (138), blocks (42) and double-doubles (8) while shooting 49 percent (148-302) from the field, 37.5 percent (12-32) from 3-point range and 77.5 percent (107-138) at the free throw line.
Seckar has scored in double figures 24 times this season and poured in 20 or more points on four occasions. She tallied a season-best 24 points at UW-Eau Claire on February 11. Seckar’s season-high performances also include 12 rebounds in three games, five assists during two contests, four blocks and four steals.
Seckar recorded double-doubles of 12 points and 11 rebounds against Pacific University (Ore.) on December 6, 17 points and 10 boards versus both Minnesota Morris on December 28 and UW-La Crosse on January 7, 19 points and 11 rebounds at UW-Whitewater on January 28, 13 points and 12 boards at UW-Stevens Point on February 21, 12 points and 10 rebounds against UW-La Crosse on February 27, 21 points and 12 boards versus Wisconsin Lutheran College during the NCAA second round March 7, and 15 points and 11 rebounds against University of Chicago (Ill.) in the Elite Eight on March 14.
Beyer is averaging 12.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and a team-leading 3.1 assists per game on the year. Her 2.29 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks 10th in the country.
Beyer has shot 146-for-358 (40.8 percent) from the floor, 54-for-157 (34.4 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc and 30-for-36 (83.3 percent) at the foul line. Beyer’s 54 made 3-pointers lead the squad and rank second in the WIAC.
Beyer has scored at least 10 points during each of Oshkosh’s past 11 games and notched double-digit point totals 21 times overall this season. She had a season-high 23 points against both UW-Stout on January 24 and UW-Stevens Point on February 21. Beyer also had 22-point efforts versus UW-Stout on February 14 and UChicago during the sectional final March 14.
Beyer’s other season bests were seven rebounds in back-to-back conference games against UW-Stevens Point on February 21 and UW-River Falls on February 25, nine assists against Wheaton College (Ill.) on November 22, and three steals versus UW-Eau Claire on January 21. She has committed zero or one turnover during 20 contests this season.
Seckar and Beyer are the 12th and 13th Oshkosh players to earn D3hoops.com All-Region accolades.
Thiry honored: St. Norbert College senior Taylor Thiry has been named a first team All-Region 8 selection by D3hoops.com, announced today by the website.
Thiry, a Casco native and Luxemburg-Casco High School graduate, was named a first-team selection last year and was also a pre-season third team All-American.
Thiry averaged 16.2 points per game in 26 starts for the Green Knights and shot 50 percent overall from the floor. She was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Year for a second straight season and was a women’s basketball student-athlete of the week winner four times throughout the season.
Thiry finished her career fourth on St. Norbert’s all-time scoring list, compiling 1,366 points.
