WRIGHTSTOWN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Wrightstown Fire Department is reminding residents not to leave their home unattended while their oven is in self-cleaning mode.
It comes after an incident Wednesday at an apartment in the 800 block of County Road U. Multiple agencies were dispatched there around 4:40 p.m. for a possible structure fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters saw no smoke or flames from the exterior of the building; however, a faint odor of smoke was detected. Once inside, crews determined the source was an oven that had been placed in self-cleaning mode with no one present in the apartment.
With no active fire conditions found, all responding units were canceled. The apartment was ventilated to clear residual odors.
“Never leave your home unattended while an oven is in self-cleaning mode,” WFD warned. “These cycles generate extremely high temperatures, and someone should always be present to monitor for potential issues.”
