GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two people are in custody after a report of a stolen vehicle Friday morning.
Officers from the Grand Chute Police Department responded to a call of a stolen vehicle just after 10 a.m., with the vehicle originating from the 2900 block of West Spencer Street.
At approximately 11:53 a.m., a GCPD officer located the stolen vehicle near the intersection of North Lilas Drive and West College Avenue with two occupants.
When the officer approached the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop in the area of North Bluemound Drive and West Brewster Street, the driver failed to stop and fled into a nearby residential area.
After a coordinated search, officers located the abandoned vehicle near the intersection of North Hine Street and West Randall Street.
Shortly after beginning the search, law enforcement located and arrested both the driver and a passenger without incident.
An 18-year-old male was confined at the Outagamie County Jail with recommended charges of operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, criminal trespass to a dwelling, fleeing from an officer, and resisting arrest.
A juvenile male was also arrested, and will be referred for charges of accompanying a person operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, criminal trespass to a dwelling, and resisting arrest.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
