(ST NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) GRAND CHUTE – St. Norbert College began the final weekend of the regular season with a 5-0 shutout victory over Lawrence University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey League game at the Champion Center.
The Green Knights (14-8-2, 11-4-2 NCHA) earned their third-straight shutout in February, holding a four-goal lead after the end of the second period.
Grace Wittkopf scored the game’s opening goal at 5:42 in the first period off a Maddie Madden assist as the Green Knights held a 1-0 lead after the opening 20 minutes. Briar Charchenko scored just after the first intermission at 2:26 in the second period, while Claire Healy netted a third at 12:59. Hannah Grabianowski (pictured) made it 4-0 at 16:15 with a Anika Fortin helper.
Wittkopf scored her second goal of the game on a power play in the third period, coming just 11 seconds into the penalty.
Healy led the Green Knights with three points, adding two assists along with her goal. Wittkopf and Grabianowski both had two points.
St. Norbert outshot the Vikings 63-12. Tanith Plachetka only had to make 12 stops in the shutout, while Lawrence’s Sarah Dobrzynski made 58 saves.
The Green Knights went 1-for-3 on the power play. Lawrence was 0-for-2.
