(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) – The Marquette University women’s lacrosse team wraps up their season-opening three game homestand this Friday, hosting Central Michigan. Opening draw control is set for 5 p.m. CT, and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
MU took down Cincinnati, 17-10, last Sunday afternoon at the Valley Fields Dome. The Golden Eagles improved to 2-0 on the season after overcoming an early two-goal deficit and controlling the game over the middle 30 minutes.
HISTORY VS. CENTRAL MICHIGAN
Marquette has historically controlled its series with Central Michigan, holding a 9-2 all‑time advantage in matchups dating back to 2016. The Golden Eagles have won five straight and nine of the last ten, including a 17–5 win in Mount Pleasant in 2025.
SCOUTING THE CHIPPEWAS
Central Michigan opened its 2026 season on Feb. 8 at No. 25 Notre Dame in a 0-25 loss, and enters the year coming off a 5–10 campaign in 2025. Senior attacker Kelsey Barratt returns as their top scoring threat with 12 goals and 20 points last season, while junior defender Ava Regitz anchors the defense after posting 27 caused turnovers—second‑most in program history. In goal, senior Leila Kahler takes over the starting job after backing up 2024 MAC Goalkeeper of the Year Alexa Martel.
BODNER, OSBURN EARN BIG EAST HONORS
Graduate student Hanna Bodner (Midfielder of the Week) and senior Tess Osburn (Attacker of the Week) earned the first pair of BIG EAST honors of the season, as announced on Tuesday.
