SHIOCTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Shiocton Elementary School is being formally recognized as a Blue Ribbon School.
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction superintendent Jill Underly is visiting the school Wednesday in honor of the award.
Shiocton Elementary was one of eight Wisconsin schools honored in the 2025 program. According to DPI:
In a small district ‘where excellence is expected,’ Shiocton Elementary focuses on the whole child — academically, socially, and emotionally — to prepare learners for future success.
Blue Ribbon Schools was a longstanding program of the U.S. Department of Education. It was abruptly ended last year, but Wisconsin education officials decided to continue to honor the Wisconsin schools that had been nominated.
In addition to Shiocton Elementary, T.J. Walker Middle School in Sturgeon Bay and Crivitz High School were also honored.
