APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A 51-year-old man was arrested after an overnight stabbing in Appleton.
Police say they were called to the 1500 block of N. Graceland Ave., on the city’s northeast side, just before 3 a.m.
The victim, a 43-year-old woman, was stabbed in the face and chest. Her wounds were determined not to be life-threatening, but she was taken to the hospital.
The suspect was found hiding in a dump trailer in the driveway about 20 minutes after police arrived.
He was identified as Rolando Valenzuela Barrera. He was booked into jail on a potential charge of attempted homicide. Formal charges have not yet been filed and police say he is not expected in court Monday. Barrera has an outstanding warrant from a 2012 case.
Police say the victim and suspect were in a domestic relationship. Officers recommend anyone who is suffering domestic violence contact Harbor House at (920) 832-1667.
