(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) GREEN BAY – The Green Bay men’s basketball team fell to Wright State 83-75 at home Sunday.
Wright State (15-8, 10-2) was led by Kellen Pickett, who scored 21 points and brought down eight rebounds. Solomon Callaghan added 15 points, and Dominic Pangonis also contributed with 12 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Green Bay struggled out of the gate, falling behind 15-6 with 13:32 left in the first half. Wright State led by no less than five points the remainder of the half, holding a 38-28 lead going into the break.
Wright State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 60-47 advantage before Green Bay responded with an 8-0 run, finished off a Lebron Thomas layup, to shrink the deficit to 60-55 with 7:56 to go in the contest. The Phoenix got as close as four down the stretch, but the Raiders never surrendered the lead and closed it out 83-75.
GAME NOTES
» The Phoenix shot well from three-point range, knocking down seven of 16 attempts
» Wright State outrebounded Green Bay 28-26, including 9-8 on the offensive boards.
» Preston Ruedinger led the Phoenix with six rebounds.
ON THE HORIZON
Green Bay hits the road to face Northern Kentucky on Wednesday, before returning home to face Detroit Mercy on Saturday.
