CLINTONVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Police said the man who reported he was stabbed in Clintonville Thursday actually inflicted the wounds himself, then lied about who did it.
The Clintonville Police Department responded to a stabbing incident on Glendale Court just after 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
The victim was treated on scene for non-life threatening injuries and later taken to an area hospital, where they were subsequently released.
In an updated news release Friday afternoon, police said their investigation determined the “victim” actually stabbed himself, then reported that an unknown person had stabbed him.
Charges of disorderly conduct and resisting/obstructing an officer will be referred to the Waupaca County District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the community.
