KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Kaukauna Area School District Board of Education approved Monday the name of the district’s new middle school.
Following a multi-phase process, the name that was chosen is simple: Kaukauna Middle School.
“As a Board, we felt the name Kaukauna Middle School best represents our community as a whole,” said Board President Chris Bouressa in a news release. “It brings together students from across the District under one shared name, helps build pride in Kaukauna and reflects a strong sense of unity. We also believe it’s a name that will stand the test of time for generations of students to come.”
Community engagement was encouraged from start to finish.
Phase 1 invited students, staff, families and community members to submit name suggestions for the new school. The Board of Education then reviewed the submissions and narrowed the list down to four potential names.
In Phase 2, a pair of listening sessions were held, giving community members a chance to share their feedback on the names directly with the school board.
Construction on Kaukauna Middle School is expected to begin in the spring. The project remains on track and on budget, officials said. The new school is expected to open at the start of the 2028-29 school year.
