(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College junior Connor Pytleski has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, announced today by the conference announced today by the conference office.
Pytleski, a Green Bay native and Southwest High School graduate, averaged 14.6 points per game last week. In the 79-69 win over St. Olaf College, he recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He then followed that performance with 14 points and six boards against No. 3 UW-La Crosse in a 84-58 loss and was named to the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament All-Tournament team.
His most impressive outing came against Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday, scoring 20 points with an 8-0 run produced by himself during a 13-point rally in a 76-75 win for the Green Knights.
The award is the first in his career.
Smart kids: Eight St. Norbert College football student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team.
Seniors Dylan Elsing, Connor Hardy, Nate Lee, Michael Meneguzzo, Lane Nehring, Payton Ponteras, John Seitz and Brian Treacy were selected.
Elsing, a Poynette native and graduate, holds a 3.66 grade point average in data analytics.
Hardy, a Appleton native and North High School graduate, has a 4.00 grade point average in business administration finance.
Lee, a Neenah native and graduate, has a 3.78 grade point average in psychology. He has named an All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference honorable mention this season.
Meneguzzo, a Iron Mountain, Mich., native, and Kingsford High School graduate, holds a 3.67 grade point average in business administration.
Nehring, a Hermansville, Mich., native, and North Central High School graduate, has a 3.65 grade point average in history and education 4-12.
Ponteras, a Wahiawa, Hawaii, native, and Kamehameha High School graduate, has a 3.89 grade point average in business administration management. He was named the NACC Defensive Player of the Week and to the D3football.com Team of the Week on September 23 after forcing two turnovers for touchdowns.
Seitz, a Stratford native and graduate, has a 3.91 grade point average in business administration finance and economics. He was named a All-NACC honorable mention this season.
Treacy, a Homer Glenn, Ill., native, and Providence Catholic High School graduate, holds a 3.59 grade point average in business administration. He was named a All-NACC second team selection this season.
Back in action: The Green Knights men’s basketball team hosts Marian University at 7 p.m. tonight while the women’s team plays at Marian University in Fond du Lac.
The men’s team is 5-0 in conference play while Marian is 4-1.
The St. Norbert women’s team is 1 of 4 teams tied for first place in conference play with a 5-0 record. Marian is 1-4.
