(WTAQ-WLUK) — Kimberly and Little Chute will continue to be serviced by the Fox Valley Metro Police Department (FVMPD) through at least 2026, though Kimberly may begin to contract with the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office.
Kimberly’s plan “likely includes contracted services with Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department,” according to its 2026 budget. It adds that FVMPD staffing will be modified as the joint police department dissolves, coinciding with the introduction of the contracted services with Outagamie County.
Its budget includes a $475,000 decrease for its agreement with Little Chute and a new $539,000 for contractual services with Outagamie County. Despite a slight total police budget increase in 2026, Kimberly estimates the move will save them about $279,000 per year in the long run.
Kimberly decided to withdraw from the Fox Valley Metro Police Department in August, but the villages’ agreement requires a three-year notice clause for termination. However, the villages can agree terminate the agreement early.
The villages have not decided exactly when Kimberly will fully leave the department. It could be as late as 2028.
