BROWN COUNTY (WTAQ-WLUK) — If you’ve ever wanted to get a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at local law enforcement, here’s your chance.
Applications are now open for the 2026 Citizens Academy, hosted by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. The program is available to all Brown County residents who are 18 or older; no prior police experience is needed.
Participants will learn about:
- Patrol operations and traffic enforcement
- Jail operations and inmate management
- Criminal investigations and evidence handling
- K9 and specialty unit demonstrations
- Use-of-force training and simulations
- Community policing and crime prevention
The course will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursdays from Feb. 19 to April 23 at the sheriff’s office, located at 2684 Development Drive in Green Bay.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office says the Citizens Academy is a great way to build trust and understanding between law enforcement and the community, ask questions and interact directly with deputies and staff and see how the sheriff’s office operates on a day-to-day basis.
