OCONTO (WLUK) — There are at least five different students who are sexual assault victims of former Oconto Falls High School staff member Gayle Gander, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Bond was set at $75,000 cash for Gander, 60, who was an English teacher and director of the performing arts center. He was arrested on requested charges of sexual misconduct by a school staff member and sexual assault. Formal charges have not been filed.
In a statement to district employees and families, Superintendent Stuart Russ said Gander had been fired.
District Attorney Hannah Schuchart said there are five different victims, all students, in the case. Each student offered similar details of Gander performing massages on them over the course of several months.
Gander admitted to performing the massages, claiming they were done to help the students to relax, but denied they were grooming activities, Schuchart said.
She anticipates filing 11 different charges, including child enticement, likely by the end of the week.
