Melissa Goodman (Outagamie Co. Jail)
APPLETON (WLUK) — Melissa Goodman, one of four people charged with the alleged neglect of a 14-year-old girl who was hospitalized weighing just 35 pounds, waived a preliminary hearing Tuesday and was ordered to stand trial.
All four suspects face three counts of chronic neglect of a child – consequence is great bodily harm and two counts of chronic neglect of a child – consequence is emotional damage.
Goodman returns to court Jan. 22 for an arraignment.
The others charged in the case are Walter Goodman, the victim’s father, who has a preliminary hearing on Jan. 5, Savanna LeFever, Melissa Goodman’s daughter; preliminary hearing Dec. 19, Kayla Stemler, LeFever’s partner; preliminary hearing Dec. 19.
Melissa Goodman is Walter Goodman’s wife, but is not the teen’s mother.
The victim’s relatives told our TV partner, FOX 11 in late November the girl is now staying with family on her mother’s side and is continuing to recover.
