(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) DAYTON, Ohio –The Green Bay men’s basketball dropped its first Horizon League Road contest of the season, losing 86-58 to Wright State Sunday evening.
The Phoenix (4-7, 0-2) had two players score in double figures, led by C.J. O’Hara, who had 19 points. Justin Allen tacked on 12 points and two steals.
The Raiders (5-5, 1-1) were led by Michael Cooper, who scored 23 points and dished out four assists. Michael Imariagbe added 14 points, and Logan Woods scored 13 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 20-10, Green Bay went on a 10-0 run, culminating with an O’Hara three with 7:07 left in the first half to tie the game at 20. However, the Raiders got going offensively late, outscoring the Phoenix 20-14 in the final seven minutes to take a 40-34 lead into halftime.
Wright State came out hot to start the second half, outscoring Green Bay 9-0 to start and going up 49-34 with 17:38 left to go in the game. Green Bay cut into the deficit at 53-45 after an Allen layup with 15:20 to go in the contest. Wright State responded and dominated the rest of the way, outscoring GB 33-13 down the stretch to take the 86-58 win.
GAME NOTES
» Wright State outrebounded Green Bay 33-29, including 10-7 in offensive rebounds.
» Wright State won the turnover battle, committing eight compared to Green Bay’s 18.
» Wright State shot an efficient 30-of-58 from the field (51.7-percent).
