BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Northeast Wisconsin non-profits are concerned about what they call “chronically underfunded” day services for senior and those with disabilities.
Aspiro, Community Alternatives, CP, Curative Connections, Disability Service Provider Network, Innovative Care Services, Remarkable, Options for Independent Living, Sunshine Resources of Door County and VPI created The Northeast Wisconsin Family Care Advocacy Group. The group collaborates with state legislators, the Department of Health Services, families, and service providers to elevate the real-world impact of state funding decisions on care for seniors and people with disabilities.
On Monday they hosted a bus tour for state lawmakers to help highlight the growing workforce and funding challenges faced by these service providers.
Lawmakers heard first-hand stories of those impacted by these services and the important role they play in the lives of many in the region.
This is the first time concerns have been raised. Prior to the approval of the Governor’s most recent biennial budget, several non-profits in Northeast Wisconsin spoke publicly about the challenges they’re facing and the need for additional funding.
Sites visited during the tour included Aspiro, CP, and Curative Connections.
