GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Appleton International Airport is gearing up for its busiest time of the year.
During the week of Thanksgiving, ATW will have 238 inbound and outbound flights and welcome 20,000 inbound passengers.
“It’s all hands on deck the week of Thanksgiving. We are staffed and prepared to make the busiest travel week of the year easy and more convenient for our customers,” said Airport Director Abe Weber in a news release.
In 2024, ATW recorded one million inbound and outbound travelers for the first time in a single calendar year. Weber said he is confident the airport will reach that mark even earlier this year, either during or right after the Thanksgiving travel rush.
ATW is reminding everyone to pack their patience this holiday season. Here are some travel tips:
- The week before Thanksgiving will be the busiest. If possible, fly in off-peak periods, such as mid-week departure and arrival dates.
- Download your airline’s app on your smart phone to efficiently communicate with your airline regarding departure and arrival information.
- Use the Appleton Airport’s Express Park service, which allows travelers to drive right up to the terminal’s front door, drop their keys off and proceed right to check in.
- TSA Pre-Check takes the hassle out of going through airport security. Pre-Check passengers have shorter security waits and use dedicated security lines. TSA Pre-Check requires a $78 fee and is available at the Appleton airport.
