BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Brown County officials are reminding residents to stay safe this winter as part of Wisconsin’s Winter Weather Awareness Week.
Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach and Emergency Management Director Daniel Kane urged residents to plan ahead if severe winter weather is possible.
This includes having an emergency kit supply kit on standby, which may include blankets, water, a first aid kit and a shovel.
Residents are encouraged to “know before you go” about any potential winter weather, and check on road conditions with 511 Wisconsin before they travel.
“If we get complacent and we feel like we can handle anything that’s when we can get ourselves into trouble. It’s important to remember we are still susceptible to these things, these things do have real health and physical consequences so anything we can do to put ourselves in the best situation we should do that,” Kane said.
Winter Weather Awareness Week runs statewide from November 17-21.
