GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Members of the Green Bay East High School community are coming together in support of the school’s head football coach who has been put on administrative leave.
Kominiko “Niko” Sila was put on administrative leave, but a school district spokesperson says they cannot comment on the situation because “this is a personnel matter.”
In addition to being the football coach, Sila serves as the manager of student engagement, attendance, and advocacy at the school.
The district says Sila has been a regular employee of the district since 2018 and was a coach in the fall of 2016 and 2017.
Sila’s sister started an online petition that “calls upon the authorities and decision-makers in Green Bay School District to reconsider their decision and reinstate Niko Sila to his position.”
The petition had more than 1,000 signatures as of Monday morning.
