TOWN OF PESHTIGO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Officials released the names of the officers who fatally shot at a person armed with a sharp-edged weapon last month in Marinette County.
On Aug. 29, law enforcement officers in Marinette County were attempting to locate a vehicle related to a suspicious death investigation in Dane County.
An officer with the Marinette Police Department located the vehicle in Marinette around 9:12 a.m. and attempted to make a traffic stop.
The vehicle drove away, leading multiple law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase along Highway 41 that ended with the vehicle crashed near the intersection of Highway 41 northbound and Schacht Road in the town of Peshtigo.
When the driver, identified as 23-year-old Andrew Lloyd Collamore, got out of the vehicle and approached officers, a Marinette County sheriff’s deputy shot Collamore with a Taser, but that was ineffective. At that point, two Marinette police officers discharged their weapons, striking Collamore.
A sharp-edged weapon was found at the scene.
The officers who discharged their weapons are:
- Marinette Police Officer Parker J. De Los Santos, 7 years law enforcement service
- Marinette Police Officer Andrew D. Bonjean, 19 years law enforcement service
No officers were injured.
The officers are on administrative leave, following department policy. One officer had a body camera, and both officers’ squad cameras were activated.
The state Division of Criminal Investigation is continuing its investigation. It says all involved law enforcement are fully cooperating with their investigation.
