CLEVELAND, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Lakeshore College received a federal grant to help students stay in school and graduate.
The U.S. Department of Education awarded the technical college $1.36 million. School officials say it will go toward helping low-income students, first-generation students and students with disabilities.
“This grant allows Lakeshore College to continue to provide critical targeted, holistic support for low-income and first-generation students as well as students with disabilities,” Paul Carlsen, president of Lakeshore College, said in a news release. “The staff members and efforts supported by this funding can be the difference to help our students stay on track, reach their goals and change their lives.”
The grant funds individualized services such as academic tutoring, financial aid, career exploration and mentoring.
This grant continues a federally funded program that has been active for the past 15 years. According to the school, over 1,000 students have benefitted from the program since 2010.
Lakeshore will receive $272,364 annually for the next five years.
