MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Changes are coming to the public works garage in the village of Harrison.
Officials hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for the building’s remodel and expansion project.
“This is momentous for us because we’re growing. Our village is growing and our operations are growing, so in order to accommodate the growing operations, we are in need of some additional bays and some upgrades to our public works building,” said Village Manager Chad Pelishek.
McMahon, a full-service engineering, architectural and consulting firm, is working with general contractor Bayland Buildings to bring the upgrades to life.
“Today is not just a groundbreaking of a construction project, but the beginning of a strong, efficient and more capable future for the village of Harrison — a future for our growing community,” said Mike Martin, an architect with McMahon.
The remodel includes an 11,400-square-foot addition to the current garage, as well as:
- A new full pass-through wash bay and three additional full pass-through parking bays
- Conversion of the existing wash bay into a new department of public works office space, ADA-compliant restrooms and storage space
- A full upgrade to the vehicle exhaust removal system in the current garage
- Resurfacing of the existing garage’s concrete floor with a new resinous floor system
“The mechanical systems and equipment that will be placed in this building will provide essential space and infrastructure needed to maintain and improve the services that make this community thrive. From snow removal to road maintenance to all the behind-the-scenes work that keeps the village running smoothly,” Martin added.
The project is expected to be finished by March 2026.
In the coming weeks, the village of Harrison is also breaking ground on a new fire station.
