(WTAQ-WLUK) — A Calumet County deputy luckily walked away with minor injuries from a crash caused by an alleged drunk driver.
According to the department’s Facebook page, around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, a Calumet County deputy had a vehicle pulled over for a traffic stop on State Highway 57 near County Highway K in the town of Brillion.
During the traffic stop, the deputy’s patrol vehicle was rear-ended by another car that subsequently rolled onto its roof.
The driver of the striking vehicle showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody.
The deputy will be back on duty after a short recover period.
The department says this incident underscores critical safety reminders:
- Don’t Drive Impaired: Always plan for a sober ride home. Impaired driving endangers everyone on the road.
- Move Over for Emergency Vehicles: When you see flashing lights on the roadside, move over / slow down. This is not only respectful but ensures the safety of our officers, other emergency vehicles and other drivers on the road.
