Hayden Daffinson (Fond du Lac Co. Jail)
FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Hayden Daffinson was charged Wednesday with attempted homicide for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend with an axe more than 25 times on Sunday.
Daffinson, 34, is also charged seven other counts, including first-degree sexual assault, and mayhem for the incident on Merrill Avenue. An initial court appearance is scheduled for today.
According to the criminal complaint, a woman called 9-1-1 shortly before 3 p.m., stating she had been attacked with an axe.
“Victim 1 stated she just broke up with the defendant prior to this occurring, that he was at her house to pick up some of his personal property, and that he attacked her with the hatchet prior to leaving her residence in a red SUV,” the complaint states.
While at the residence, Daffinson allegedly sexually assaulted her, and at one point said “(Expletive) it, I’m just going to kill you, because I’m going to prison anyway,” the complaint states.
That’s when Daffinson struck her 25 times or more with the hatchet on her back, hands, arms, and head. The woman suffered two broken arms, skull fractures, and likely will have a finger amputated, according to the complaint.
“Victim 1 advised that Daffinson was mad at her because she broke the relationship off but did not think he would do something like this to her,” the complaint states.
Daffinson’s vehicle was later located northwest of Milwaukee. When police tried to arrest him, a chase reaching speeds of more than 110mph ensued before he was stopped and arrested.
The complaint does not contain any post-arrest statements from Daffinson.
