TOWN OF AUBURN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An 18-year-old motorcyclist died Tuesday in a crash in Fond du Lac County.
Around 3:50 p.m., the sheriff’s office received several 911 calls regarding a collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck. It happened at the intersection of County Highway V and Auburn-Ashford Drive in the town of Auburn.
Officials say preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle was traveling southbound on CTH V when it struck a pickup truck proceeding eastbound from the stop sign on Auburn-Ashford Dr.
The motorcycle and its operator went into the southeast ditch, while the pickup truck came to a rest on Auburn-Ashford Dr. just east of CTH V.
When emergency crews arrived, the motorcycle operator was pulseless and not breathing. Lifesaving efforts were performed, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motorcyclist was identified as an 18-year-old male from Campbellsport. His name is being withheld at this time, pending family notification.
A 32-year-old Campbellsport man was driving the pickup truck. He was treated on scene by paramedics and is cooperating with investigators.
Authorities say the motorcycle’s speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
County Highway V was closed for approximately four hours during the investigation and scene cleanup.
