(WTAQ-WLUK) – Taylor Schabusiness filed a hand-written note with the courts Wednesday, agreeing there are no grounds for her to appeal her conviction for the murder and dismemberment of Shad Thyrion. But she also asked for time to file a post-conviction motion in circuit court.
Schabusiness, 27, is serving a life sentence for the Feb. 22, 2022, murder on Green Bay’s west-side.
Her appellate attorney filed what’s known as a “no-merit report” in November, saying he did not find any grounds for an appeal.
The appeals court had instructed Schabusiness to decide how she wanted to proceed: either in the appeals court, or with a post-conviction motion in circuit court.
“Imma voluntary dismiss the no-merit and extend the time to file a post conviction motion,” the one-paragraph document states.
The appeals court previously ruled Schabusiness must act as her own attorney, unless she is able to retain counsel.
In a separate case, Schabusiness faces an Oct. 27 trial for allegedly assaulting a staff member at the Taycheedah Correctional Institution.
