GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — As President Trump prepared to host his military parade to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, protestors around the nation gathered for the ‘No Kings Day of Defiance’ protests.
In more than 1,800 communities, protestors gathered to show their disapproval of the Trump administration.
Organizers say the administration’s handling of mass deportations is unjust and inhumane, and they believe the administration is becoming increasingly authoritarian.
More than 50 protests were held across Wisconsin today, including in Green Bay, Shawano, Manitowoc, Madison and Milwaukee.
Hundreds of protesters also gathered in Oshkosh on Saturday morning.
“This is incredible. It’s also heartfelt that so many feel the way we do. We’re fighting for what we think is right. I think it’s awesome. This is the only way to voice our opinion,” says David Werch who traveled to Oshkosh from the Amro area with his wife, Mary for Saturday’s protest.
“Well we do not like what’s happening in this country. Our democracy is just about gone if it’s not already, and it keeps getting worse,” he says. “I’m 69 years old and I never thought I’d see our country come to this but because of one man, this is where we’re at.”
The protests were organized by a coalition of left-wing groups like Indivisible, 50501, and the National Action Network.
