LAWRENCE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A $215 million mixed-use development in the town of Lawrence has cleared its final regulatory hurdle.
At its Monday meeting, the town board approved the zoning for Lawrence Town Center, according to developers.
Kaukauna-based Boardwalk Development Co. is planning the development on 153 acres between Interstate 41, Williams Grant Drive and Freedom Road.
The site was considered for a multi-million-dollar distribution site in 2021, but developers said neighbors were concerned about traffic and noise.
Plans include a six-acre lake with two-acre island, 110 single-family homes, 45 townhouses and mixed-use buildings with first-floor retail and upper-level housing. The proposal includes 30 acres of green space with three miles of walking trails, a community center, picnic pavilion, playground, splash pad, dog park, and pickleball and basketball courts. The project would be developed in phases over 10 years.
Construction is expected to begin this year, the developer says.
